About
I'm Brian, a Design System Engineer at Bonterra where I lead Stitch, our design system. Over the past decade, I've specialized in building modular, scalable design systems with a strong emphasis on accessibility, performance, and developer experience.
My work bridges the gap between design and engineering—creating accessible, composable component libraries that empower teams to build high-quality user experiences efficiently. I take a systematic approach to architecture, focusing on reusability, maintainability, and scalability while integrating industry best practices.
With deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and CSS, I'm passionate about collaborative design-engineering workflows, thorough documentation, and fostering an environment where accessibility and design consistency are built in from the start, not bolted on later.
Beyond Code
Outside of software, I have a deep passion for theater. I was the artistic director of The Science Fiction Theatre Company of Boston, a resident company at the Factory Theatre. In my time as an artist in Boston, I've written, directed, acted in, designed sound and lighting, or more for over two dozen productions. While my career keeps me busy, I continue to make time for the stage—and now, I see my daughter following in my footsteps.
Whether in software or storytelling, I thrive on solving complex challenges, refining creative expression, and building experiences that leave an impact.
